MARKETING – KNOW THE PRODUCT
The
most important rule in buzz marketing is not to advertise products
which haven’t been tested, known or dealt with, why? – the answeris simple.
Inbuzz marketing we enter some society’s life on Internet forums so
we become its part and we have a few privileges like sharing our
opinions with other users of forums, expressing thoughts, praises or
negating some content or product. We have currently free market and
everybody can say what they want, where they want and when they like
it. However, on these forums we have obligations but not little ones,
we have to be their parts and exist there, so it means that we should
register there, read new threads, check if there are answers in our
posts. And why should we know the product? To be able to answer the
questions on Internet forums, and it is very easy to check, forum
users know at once after a simple question if it is really you who
dealt with a given product; one question is enough e.g. “what paint
is used for this, does it have ISO 9002 certificate? And the layman
from a pseudo advertising agency will be recognized at once and there
are hundreds of such agencies in Poland.
Thefirst step where we are to recommend the service is to learn about
it, don’t neglect this subject because it is the most important,
not important, but the most important. If we are to advertise under
eye cream, ask the client to send you a sample, if it is a dental
clinic go there and see how it looks like, talk to patients, learn
what is badly organized, where it can be improved; the real buzz
marketing looks like just that, where at first we must get to know
the market and ask about it, and then enter forums with a given
product or service.
Recently,
I have experienced such a situation: I was at my friend’s in Gdynia
in the advertising agency, I’ll tell you that their upmarket
clients, as e.g. known mobile phone network, as well as the building
and the company surrounding give an impression but this, what they
have done, brought me on my knees. A client called to ask about
campaign for an insurance company. After just 10 minutes the campaign
was accepted. That surprised me. For the campaign where they were to
make 500 entries on Internet forums, they took over 3 thousands
zlotys (PLN). The exaggerated stake, frankly speaking, but it is not
the most important. One hour later the campaign was started and, to
my horror, without any knowledge about the company, about products,
etc. For God’s sake, dear marketing colleagues, you mustn’t do
like that, it’s not the done thing, check the company so that you
know at least if it is worth attention in order not to mislead
clients.
Remember,
buzz marketing is not to be something wrong, just the opposite, it is
to be a reliable source of information about a company on forums/
blogs, etc., where it is not possible to get with other form of
advertisement.
