BUZZ
MARKETING – HOW TO USE IT IN REAL LIFE
Nowadays
we live in times when the Internet has dominated all branches of
life, maybe almost all, but as we know it is omnipresent and for most
of people it is necessary for existence.
As
I have written in previous articles, a buzz - as buzz marketing is
commonly called - is a great form of advertisement but is it only in
the Internet? Of course not! In real life and maybe even much more
than in the net marketing it brings us huge profits and it is able to
promote us, our company to the upper reaches.
Inmany cases a buzz is actually not a marketing, it is rather
propagation of our company product by other people and recommendation
of it to others. A good product, as we know, sells itself and it is
enough to give a few people more than they expect and they will come
back and recommend our product or us to other people.
I
will give you a great example how, in a real world, to promote a
product well. Supposing that we are owners of a middle-class diner in
Gdańsk on the promenade (only middle class as a rule). I often go to
the city centre to eat out and I can tell you that restaurateurs know
about attracting customers as much as I know about weapons, that is
nothing. Wherever I was, it looked like this: average places, average
service, and food – oh, it varies. This often leads to the
situation that I never go to the same diner for the second time, but
about 2 weeks ago I was in a different common, unremarkable diner but
at 7:30 p.m.it was crowded!!! and it wasn’t an exact city centre.
Interior decoration was middling, food was goodish but everybody said
that there was a great atmosphere. You know why??? Because the owner
treats everybody like a friend, approached the table, took a seat
next to me :) !!! (a great marketing gimmick), asked if it was tasty,
if we had any ifs and buts or if we wanted to change anything and at
the end he asked the waiter and 2 glasses of wine were served on the
house. And it is a peak of the superb marketing, the man knows how to
approach a client, each client feels like at home, feels to be
important and thinks there is his/her place. It’s the beginning of
the buzz marketing which powers itself. I’ve noticed going out of
the diner that a couple sitting in front of us already talked “what
a place, and free wine, a superb place, we will go here”. Two boys
were smoking in front of the diner and talking by the phone “Can’t
believe it, the owner came to us, gave a discount card and reduced
our bill of costs by 10%, old boy, come here, a great place” and it
is the behaviour which we can call purposeful in making buzzmarketing about our product, palce or restaurant !!!
Thisdiner sells itself already and the same we can do with any product,
give a client something he/she considers exceptional, different and
better, thanks to which we will feel exceptional, appreciated. Then
he/she comes back to us and tells the information to 5 other people,
each of these 5 people tells to another 5 and in that way we have
numerous and a regular group of clients.
